For many years I have loved sharing stories which illustratethe potential of homeopathy – livedexperiences and stories are where it all makes sense to me.
The research around homeopathy is important, crucial even, and yet hearing statistics and how plants behaved in a lab, whilst entirely fascinating to homeopathy geeks (yup that’ll be me too) doesn’t always
translate into ‘but what can it do for my headache?’.
It was a client who was in a particularly bad situation with her health, with limited conventional options that inspired me to write this book… starting off first with a blog, and I continuing writing until a book evolved. In her case after the first remedy, just a month into us working together, she was in a very different place of health and described how she could feel ‘herself coming back’. She was able to walk down a flight of stairs without it taking her towards an hour to do so (can you imagine? How many times do most of us take walking down stairs for granted?); she was able to wake up
without having a seizure every day (in fact she had barely had any over the month) and her very frequent ticcing was much reduced. This was a story I wanted to shout from the rooftops. MostlyI get on with my job now, 18 years in, much more quietly than I used to in my evangelical early days. But I can still get upset that people are suffering and there may be something outside the conventional tool kit that could help. They aren’t being told about options such as homeopathy.
Not having a flat rooftop, or loving heights – or indeed having many folk around me to shout to… I turned to the pen. Or the laptop more accurately, and started weaving stories through the concepts and principles of homeopathy, thinking that it could be helpful to newcomers of homeopathy, or to
students.
The book has had some rave reviews within the homeopathic community, from people I hugely respect. Being described as ‘A perfect introduction to homeopathy written with generosity and joy.’ Elaine goes on to say: ‘Reminds me of the joy of reading Dorothy Shepherd before I then had to train as a homeopath!' [Elaine Watson, Homeopath]
I’m grateful for glowing reviews from Drs Bhawisha and Shachindra Joshi, Dr David Lilley, Gill Graham, Vice President of the Faculty of Homeopathy, UK, Camilla Sherr, Miranda Castro and many more.
But how about the content? I share stories of people’s experiences working with homeopathy, stories of a lifetime of headaches resolved, constipation from early childhood – gone, mental health challenges – OCD, anxiety, depression – all hugely improved.
I share my introduction to homeopathy, which was due to my horse being diagnosed with an ‘incurable’ eye disease – which went away with homeopathy. We had been told she may have to have her eye removed to remove the eye disease. Turned out a few little white tablets removed it with no need for majoy surgery, trauma and the rest.
The book begins with my horses’ remarkable story, then goes into an introduction to homeopathy, sharing principles, terminology and explanations of homeopathy – whilst briefly addressing areas around topics such as research supporting homeopathy - and the hot topic of placebo.
There are 10 chapters of real life stories – from headaches and migraines to gastrointestinal
challenges, mental health to animal health.
I’ve aimed to share an insight into life in clinic – I’ve shared cases that I didn’t always get the perfect homeopathic medicine to start a case, and shown how things can resolve beautifully when you do get a good match. I have acute cases woven amongst the longer term cases – and several cases where
people were told ‘there’s nothing else you can do/try’.
Those are the cases that make me want to shout loudest and I’m grateful to share cases where people
had no hope given to them – and recovered using this gentle system of medicine.
The book is available as an ebook, paperback and hardback and I can post them worldwide – or they’re also available from Barnes and Noble, Waterstones and Amazon as well as homeopathic retailers in the UK.
If you read it I’d love to hear what you think! Do feel free to drop mean email or leave a review on Amazon – it all helps to get the book seen by more people, and introduce folk to the idea that there may be another way to support our health at times.
With joy,
Em
